Grisebach is delighted to have gained the renowned provenance expert Isabel von Klitzing as a senior consultant for the Provenance Research department. Through her supervision of public and private collections in Germany and abroad and her training as a fully qualified lawyer, she has a broader view of complicated cases, which complements that of art historians perfectly.
Before founding her company Provenance Research and Art Consulting Isabel von Klitzing worked for ten years as a Senior Restitution Specialist for Sotheby's in London, Belgrade and Frankfurt. As a result
she also has many years of experience in the global art market, where she has also built up an international network.
She studied law in Göttingen, Berlin, Brussels and Paris and is a member of the Frankfurt am Main Bar Association. In 2021, she was appointed a provenance expert by the Court of Arbitration for Art-Related Arbitration Proceedings (Cafa) and was on the board of the Arbeitskreis Provenienzforschung e.V. Since 2011, Isabel von Klitzing has lectured at the Free University of Berlin on the subject of "Provenance Research in the Art Trade". She regularly lectures and publishes on various aspects of provenance research and restitution.
Daniel von Schacky, Managing Director and Partner of Grisebach:
"I am delighted to be strengthening and further developing the important field of provenance research in the art trade together with Isabel von Klitzing as our consultant. With her, we have succeeded in gaining one of the most experienced provenance experts in the art market for Grisebach."
The team is complemented by provenance researcher Dr Nadine Bauer, who previously worked for the Brücke-Museum in Berlin and the Hamburger Kunsthalle, among others, and Stefan Pucks, who has been working for Grisebach as a catalogue editor and provenance researcher since 1995.
With her range of knowledge and international network, Isabel von Klitzing and her team will continue to expand provenance research and the international network of experts for Grisebach and thus make an important contribution to the development of provenance research in the art market and for Grisebach.
