In the autumn auction for Modern and Contemporary Photography on 30 November, a total turnover of EUR 522,500* was achieved (sales rate 90%). The highest hammer price went to Albert Renger-Patzsch's icon "The Little Tree", which achieved an international auction high in the small print size. After a lengthy bidding battle, an American collector was able to prevail with 70,000 EUR* (estimate 20,000-30,000 EUR). Three vintage prints with designs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (photo: Curt Rehbein) were also fiercely contested, all of which were eventually acquired by a private collector from Germany. The photograph of the model "Gläserner Wolkenkratzer" realised EUR 35,000* (estimated price EUR 15,000-25,000). The print of a photomontage of the "Wabe", a project in Berlin's Friedrichstraße, was knocked down at EUR 31,875*, the photograph of a drawing of the "Wabe" at EUR 50,000* (estimates EUR 10,000-20,000 each).
Andreas Feininger's vintage "N.Y.-3rd ave" with 8,000 EUR* (estimate 3,000-4,000 EUR) and Evelyn Richter's "Wartburg" with 4,500 EUR* (estimate 1,200-1,500 EUR), both sold to German private collectors, significantly increased their estimates. There were high hammer prices in the field of Contemporary Photography, for example, for an untitled work by Francesca Woodman, which sold for EUR 16,250* (estimate EUR 12,000-15,000) and for Greg Gorman's "Grace Jones in Hat", purchased by a German collector for EUR 6,500* (estimate EUR 1,800-2,200).
