In the autumn auction for Modern and Contemporary Photography on 26 October, a total turnover of EUR 741,000* was achieved with an estimate of EUR 760,000. The highest hammer price went to Thomas Struth's "Paradise 24, Sao Francisco de Xavier" Brazil. 2001" from a Belgian private collection, which went to a private collection in Switzerland for EUR 95,000*.
The German trade was able to secure a unique photogram by László Moholy-Nagy for EUR 71,250* - a true rarity on the market. A rare vintage print by Umbo was also fought over and finally sold to the German trade for EUR 10,000* (estimate EUR 1,500-2,000).
Amongst the large selection of Russian avant-garde works, there were two nice hammer prices: "Pioneer with Trumpet" by Alexander Rodchenko went to a German museum for EUR 9,375*, while "The Shower" by Boris Ignatovich is now in private hands for EUR 8,125*.
Michael Wesely's unique piece "Point Lobos", called for EUR 7,000-9,000, achieved a record-breaking result of EUR 25,000*. Dr Neuhauss' documentation of Otto Lilienthal's gliding flight from 1895 fetched a justified EUR 12,500*. Martin Munkácsi's "Um-Sprung" now delighted a Danish private collector for EUR 40,000*.
