Bernd Schultz turns 75 - Florian Illies takes over the management in his place together with Micaela Kapitzky
Grisebach will have a new management structure as of 1 January 2017: Bernd Schultz will retire from day-to-day business at the end of his 75th year. After co-founding the auction house in 1986 and managing it alone for many years, he has shared this responsibility with Micaela Kapitzky since 2005. Florian Illies will now take his place on 1 January and will manage Grisebach together with Micaela Kapitzky. Illies will represent the company externally as spokesperson for the management. Bernd Schultz will remain closely associated with Grisebach and will continue to play an active role in the future of the auction house through his position as majority shareholder. In addition to 19th century art, Florian Illies will also assume responsibility for the contemporary art department at Grisebach with immediate effect. The anniversary auctions celebrating the 30th anniversary of Villa Grisebach will take place from 30 November to 3 December. With a median estimate of 28 million euros and a total of 1517 works of art, this will be the largest auction in the history of the house in terms of both quality and quantity.
