Following the highly successful auction of contemporary works from the Berliner Sparkasse collection in December 2021, which generated sales of EUR 3.5 million, doubling the lower estimate and achieving numerous top results and auction records, Grisebach can announce the next success for the second part of the collection entrusted to it.
From 11 to 20 February, 68 further works from the collection were offered in an online-only auction at Grisebach. With a spectacularly high hammer price of 88.4% and a total result of EUR 600,000, once again doubling the lower estimate, Grisebach can report one of the most successful online-only auctions to date.
At the top of the results list is Neo Rauch's work on paper "Ernte" from 1993 at EUR 56,800*, and the estimate for Ákos Birká's "KOPF (11Bn6-7.143)" has tripled (EUR 38,000*). (EUR 38,000*). Gerhard Richter's "Farbfelder. 6 Anordnungen von 1260 Farben (Blau-Gelb-Rot), (Gelb-Blau-Rot) und (Rot-Blau-Gelb)" from 1974 (EUR 31,800*, EUR 30,600* and EUR 30.000*) as well as Rémy Zaugg's "SCHAU / ICH BIN / BLIND / SCHAU (jaune/blanc)" and "SCHAU / ICH BIN / BLIND / SCHAU (rose/jaune verdi)" at EUR 30,000* and EUR 28,750*.
The results are impressive: A total of EUR 4.3 million was realised for the two auctions of artworks from the Berliner Sparkasse collection. The proceeds will benefit social organisations in Berlin, for which Berliner Sparkasse, as one of the largest promoters of the common good in Berlin, is comprehensively committed.
